The sub-title of this book describes its contents well: 'Accounts of religious revivals in many parts of the United States from 1815 to 1818: Collected from numerous publications and letters from persons of piety and correct information.'

Joshua Bradley notes in his preface that, since 1790, almost every state in America was blessed with revivals and that recording these glorious histories would fill many volumes. He therefore restricted his book to those revivals which occurred between 1815 and 1818, including many revival reports published in American periodicals and added a number of records that were formerly unpublished.

The result is a very readable and lively account of those outpourings designed to encourage and inspire believers and to glorify the Saviour who sent these seasons of refreshing.
