James Caughey was an Irish-born emigrant to the United States who was converted in the times of revival in 1830-31 and soon after ordained to the Methodist ministry.
He experienced powerful revivals in Canada but it was his revival labours in Great Britain during the 1840's, for which he is most well known.
This particular book continues the story of his former book, 'Methodism in Earnest,' which is a history of the revival he experienced across Britain where he claims to have seen "20,000 profess faith in Christ and 10,000 profess sanctification."
It chiefly deals with the remarkable revival he was part of in the winter of 1845-6 in Huddersfield, England. Included are several of Mr Caughey's sermons and notes of his meditations and during the revival in this northern town. There are addresses on holiness, saving faith, entire sanctification, revivals, hypocrites and many more.
As with his other writings he weaves in examples of his sermons and includes a kaleidoscope of his thoughts on revival and other issues of spiritual relevance and value.
Format: Completely re-typed, original pagination, Word.doc, 404pp
